It's OK to Pass on Seconds
Whenever we're eating in a social situation, there can be a lot of temptation to eat more than we should. Just because someone offers you a second helping doesn't mean you have to accept. There's no law that says you can't go get another rib or another slice of perfectly smoked brisket if yo

Bring a Colorful, Healthy Dessert
Continuing our theme this month of How to Eat Healthy at Summer BBQs, let's talk about desserts (please don't kill the messenger!!) According to the American Heart Association (AHA), the maximum amount of added sugars you should eat in a day are: Men: 150 calories per day (37.5 grams o

Gatoraide vs. Rehydrate vs.... What's Better?
Hello athletes. Summer has hit us full force this week after a mild start and the heat isn't likely to let up anytime soon... but that's OK cause you're a CrossFitter & heat is just another mental challenge you'll overcome. Hydration, as we stress in our 101 for Beginners Class, is vastly more important during our Texas summers. You need to be constantly drinking water, even on days you don't workout! How much? Ever wonder what athletes are drinking in those shaker bottles after a hard WOD? Well wonder no more! Nothing beats the smell of smoked meat and laughter at a BBQ and like a lot of y'all, I rarely pass when invited to one. Here's a few tips to help you not OD on all those wonderfully prepared animals. Have a snack before you go... just enough to knock the edge off should suffice. Eon't just show up with a gnawin' in your belly! It's not an eating contest.... right
