What is a Balanced Breakfast? March- Week 1 Nutrition Tip



Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is the one meal you should never skip. People who skip breakfast have a higher tendency to overeat at lunch.. and then what happens? You get sleepy and the last half of the work day is a groggy struggle to be productive. Having a balanced breakfast will give you the proper energy, to get through the day. The ideal breakfast is balanced with carbohydrates, protein, and healthy sources of fat.

Try the 4 ingredient protein pancake recipe below, compliments of our Registered Dietician, Nicole Marchand! They are easy, delicious, and packed with the nutrition you need.

Ingredients:

• 1 banana

• 1 egg

• 2 egg whites

• ¾ cup old fashioned oats

• ½ - 1 scoop whey protein powder

Yield: 3 pancakes. Have two for breakfast and one for a mid-morning snack!

Directions:

1. Beat eggs and egg whites

2. Mix in banana, oats and protein powder

3. Place skillet on medium heat

4. Makes about 4 protein pancakes

5. Top with 1 tsp almond butter or coconut and

almond butter spread

6. Enjoy!
